Acts of Disobedience: Decolonize This Place

Acts of Disobedience: Decolonize This Place

Date: Thursday 8 April
Time: 8pm (GMT +2)
Organizer/s: 1927 Αrt Studio, in partnership with dëcoloиıze hellάş, Noucmas Studio and Meteoritis.

This Acts of Disobedience meeting was a discussion with the NYC-based collective Decolonize this Place, an action-oriented movement and decolonial formation in New York City, which consists of over 30 collaborating grassroots groups and art collectives that seek to resist, unsettle, and reclaim the city. The organizing and action bring together many strands of analysis and traditions of resistance: Indigenous insurgence, Black liberation, free Palestine, free Puerto Rico, the struggles of workers and debtors, de-gentrification, migrant justice, dismantling patriarchy, and more.

The discussion was moderated by Nikolas Kosmatopoulos, assistant professor of politics and anthropology at the American University of Beirut and co-founder of Decolonize Hellas, and Aktina Stathaki, founder of 1927 art space.
